Indoor Environmental Quality, (IEQ) refers to the quality of the overall built environment. Origination of indoor environmental contaminants can occur within a building itself or be introduced from outdoors. The presence of increased concentrations of contaminants can occur even if proper HVAC system operation and proper engineering controls are maintained. IEQ also accounts for the quality of the indoor air.
